3rd Nascar Race Las Vegas

Well no three in a row for Matt Kenseth. After winning two straight races, he finished in last place because of a blown engine. Jack Rousch had 3 blown engines in the race. David Ragan blew an engine and finished 42nd. Carl Edwards blew an engine with 2 laps to go but he was able to finish the race and get a fairly decent finish. Kyle Busch won the race on his home track. Clint Bowyer had another good run and finished 2nd. Richard Childress Racing had a pretty good day with Bowyer 2nd and Jeff Burton finishing in 3rd place. David Reutiman had a great run and finished 4th.I was really happy to see Bobby Labonte have a good run and finish 5th. Greg Biffle had a solid 7th place finish. Jamie McMurray finally had some good luck and finished 9th. Joey Lagono finally showed some of his promise and finished in 13th place. I think Lagono has a ton of talent and will win a couple of championships in his career. I don’t think he’ll win a race this year but I definitely think he’ll win at least one race next year. Matt Kenseth fell from 1st to 3rd in points due to his engine problems. Jeff Gordon is leading the points standings so far this year. He’s had a pretty good start to his year. Clint Bowyer is a surprise in 2nd in the points standings especially since he’s with a new team. David Reutiman is currently 5th in the points standings. Tony Stewart is also having a great year and is currently in 9th in points. It was really cool to have a race named for Caroll Shelby who has been an automotive genius for many years. I loved the Shelby pace cars they were really neat looking. I would love to own one of the Shelby Mustangs he has created over the years. I can’t wait for the Atlanta race it’s the fastest track on the circuit.

Wow! Two in a row for Matt Kenseth. That’s impressive after not winning a race at all last year. It’s also a great start for his rookie crew chief, Drew Blickensderfer. I hope that Kenseth continues to do well all year. Roush Racing is really looking good so far this year. At one time all five of the Roush cars were in the top 10 but Jamie McMurray and David Ragan faded and wound up finishing 16th and 17th. I really thought the Jamie McMurray had a good chance to win the race but he wasn’t nearly as strong as I thought he would be. Jeff Gordon was also real strong all day and gave Kenseth a run for his money at the end. I think that Jeff Gordon will stop his winless streak soon and maybe even win at Las Vegas. It was also a great run for Greg Biffle who finished fourth and Kurt Busch who finished fifth. Tony Stewart who finished 8th has been real impressive so far this year especially considering he’s a new team owner and he’s in the first year with his new team. Kyle Busch rebounded and finished 3rd after a bad Daytona race. Brain Vickers had a good run and finished 10th after having to start at the back of the field. Denny Hamlin and Carl Edwards finished 6th and 7th. Jimmy Johnson finished 9th. It was also quite surprising that Hendrick had two engine failures and Dale Earnhart Jr. and Mark Martin finished 39th and 40th. The next race is in Las Vegas. I have a feeling that Kurt and Kyle Busch will both have great runs there. I think that Biffle and Edwards also have a great chance to win at Las Vegas. I can’t wait for next week.

Anticipation of Week 4

Well here I am again, waiting on the new week to begin for the John Thornhill’s Marketing Masterclass.  I received my new graphics from Planet Divinity yesterday (thanks Steve).  So now I am waiting for guidance from John on how to load the graphics into the themes.  I could probably figure this out on my own, but I am paying for John to instruct me to how to do these things the correct way the first time.  I am going to try and do this step by step so I don’t mess it up, like I did with the widgets (lol).

I had planned on watching my car and bike shows on SPEED Channel this morning and then getting outside to do some yard work, but the weather isn’t cooperating.  It has started raining/snowing out several times and I really don’t want to be out in it.  Plus the wind is blowing a bit and the wind chill is always the clincher on these type of project for me.

Yesterday morning I went down to Waugh Harley Davidson to visit with the owner and other friends that stopped by as they always do on the weekends.  There is always a pot of coffee on and welcoming faces at Waugh HD.  The only thing missing is a good draft beverage.  The weather was nicer yesterday and it was great to get some fresh air out on the front porch sitting in a rocking chair.

This afternoon is as another NASCAR Sprint Cup Race from Fontana, California.  Yesterday I found time to watch the Craftsman Truck Race in the afternoon and the Nationwide Series Race which came on last night.  All racing is good racing to me.

The Daytona 500

Hi all,

I am so glad racing season has started again. The past couple of Sunday’s have been boring with no football or racing. I thought the Daytona 500 was great. I’m so glad Jack Roush finally got a Daytona victory and Matt Kenseth is one of my favorite drivers. I am a big Ford fan. I know there’s not many of us out there. It seems most people are Dale Earnhardt Jr. fans. Dale Earnhardt Jr. sure caused a big wreck at Daytona. If it had been any other driver they would have been penalized but Jr. always gets special treatment. It is very dangerous to intentionally spin someone at the front of the field when the cars are going close to 200 mph. His aggressive driving caused several cars on the lead lap to get wrecked it’s just lucky no one got hurt. I know he was frustrated that he made two mistakes on pit road but to intentionally spin someone does not make sense. I can understand taking your frustrations out at the short tracks but not on the super speedways. I think Jr. spun him because Brian Vickers was blocking him. But Kyle Busch was blocking Jr. earlier and Jr. blocks quite frequently. I just wish NASCAR would enforce the rules the same way for everybody. I can’t wait for the next race in California.

A Lazy Saturday

Hi all!  I had great plans to really charge hard in this blog over the weekend, but as I got into the weekend I realized I had to accomplish treasurer duties for my HOG (Harley Owners Group).  This took most of the morning and then the Nationwide NASCAR Race from Daytona, Florida came on, so I had to watch that….. Exciting racing which is the right of spring for stock car racing here in the US.

As the day went on I surfed the Internet and found out some new things I may want to play with on this Internet Marketing site.  I’ll get into more detail on these as I move forward in this John Thornhill Master Marketing Class.  Week three begins on Monday 16 Feb 09 and I am looking forward on improving things on this site.   This afternoon I was getting a cage ready for a new outdoor cat that my wife is bringing home.  I used a mid-size dog kennel then covered it with aluminum insulation.  To ensure he wouldn’t freeze I placed the kennel on a pet hot plate designed to keep your pet warm in the winter when they are in their little house.  I thought I was quit ingenious about the whole mess.  In any case when my wife brought him home he moved right on in and looked very comfortable.

Enough rambling for now.   Have a great evening!
