Week Three of the Masterclass Begins

Hi all.  Well week three of John Thornhill’s Marketing Masterclass was finally posted.  I finished last weeks lesson so fast that I got really anxious awaiting week threes lessons to arrive.  The first thing we did was register with Google AdSense.  That was pretty simple and was accomplished in about two minutes.  Then he lead us through creating a “Masterclass” folder to our desktop, so another minute or so to complete this task.  The next portion of the lesson was to create a sub folder for blog themes and then a walk-through on how to download several blog themes to the desktop.  Of course now you have to extract the contents of the zip files.  So John takes us through step by step using both Vista expand and the very popular WinZip program.  All has gone very well to this point, however there is a glitch.  Before I can continue I must wait for the approval response from Google AdSense.  This can take  twenty-four to forty-eight hours.  Being I completed that registration (step 1) Monday around three in the afternoon yesterday, I was hoping to see something in the mail today.  But alas, no such luck.  The up side of this is I got to catalog what I’ve done so far for all of you.

I am hoping that by blogging my progress you’ll have a better understanding of how wonderful this class is and then if you have the inclination, you can look for the class and sign up to take the course.  Click HERE to show your interest in the next class.

Until the next blog….

My Poor Car

It’s been a rough couple of weeks for my car.  Last week I had to take my car into the shop because it didn’t have any power.  I took it to the repair shop and they said that mice ate the wires to several of the fuel injectors.  Later on that week the check engine light came on again and the car wasn’t running well again and I discovered that a mouse ate one of the coil wires so it was down a cylinder.  The repair shop found the mouse nest and got rid of it so hopefully that will keep them out of my car engine.  I guess the mice like to have a mobile home.  The repair bill was over $400.  I checked to see if my insurance company would cover this and was quite surprised when they did.  They covered the whole repair bill which was great.  I love animals but these mice have really pissed me off.  My husband bought some Critter Out and sprayed that all over the engine and tires and underneath the car.  I also got an orange and white barn cat from the shelter which I brought home today.  He’s been an outdoor tom cat for many years but he was recently neutered.  He is fairly friendly which is shocking since he’s spent his whole life outside.  I don’t know if he’s going to be much help because he’s curled up in the house that we made for him just sitting there and watching everybody pass by.  I hope he becomes more active tomorrow and comes out of his nice warm house.  I also have another barn cat coming to my house and I was told that he is quite mean and he can’t be handled or he’ll swat you.

A Lazy Saturday

Hi all!  I had great plans to really charge hard in this blog over the weekend, but as I got into the weekend I realized I had to accomplish treasurer duties for my HOG (Harley Owners Group).  This took most of the morning and then the Nationwide NASCAR Race from Daytona, Florida came on, so I had to watch that….. Exciting racing which is the right of spring for stock car racing here in the US.

As the day went on I surfed the Internet and found out some new things I may want to play with on this Internet Marketing site.  I’ll get into more detail on these as I move forward in this John Thornhill Master Marketing Class.  Week three begins on Monday 16 Feb 09 and I am looking forward on improving things on this site.   This afternoon I was getting a cage ready for a new outdoor cat that my wife is bringing home.  I used a mid-size dog kennel then covered it with aluminum insulation.  To ensure he wouldn’t freeze I placed the kennel on a pet hot plate designed to keep your pet warm in the winter when they are in their little house.  I thought I was quit ingenious about the whole mess.  In any case when my wife brought him home he moved right on in and looked very comfortable.

Enough rambling for now.   Have a great evening!

About Lynne

Lynne– Has been a Department of Defense Police Officer for almost 20 years.  She has served as a bomb dog handler, protocol officer, and worked in operations as well as dispatch at the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia.  She plans to leave work as soon as we pay off a couple bills and  determine if Jay’s retirement income combined with the additional income from our internet marketing is enough money to live on comfortably.

The internet marketing endeavor is something that Lynne has been working on for at least a year.  It has been hard to get started and to decide how to go about setting things up and what we wish to market.  Now that we are working with John Thornhill on the details, things have become much clearer and I think we are on our way to success.

Hobbies– Lynne’s hobbies are working with this new internet marketing endeavor and has always been involved with animal rescue and care.  She has been involved with our local humane society to the extent that she has been on the board as Treasurer, Vice President and President.  She began a low cost spay and neuter program for the county in coordination with a regional veterinary health program.  The program has been a wonderful success and greatly benefits the county and the animals alike.  Lynne also worked on our stock car racing team for a number of years with us.

About Jay

Jay – I am a retired US Government worker, specifically for the US Army.  I served 8 years in the army then became a civilian working for the same organization.  I have a total of 37 years working for the Federal Government.  So I feel I’ve worked very hard for my retirement.  I would feel a whole lot better if the economy was in better shape across the world, but I don’t think that will be fixed any time soon so I am moving forward and re-engineering myself.  The new plan is to keep enough irons in the fire to bring in a bit of cash, but leave plenty of time to do fun things.

My Hobbies include riding my Harley Davisdon, playing my guitar, and wood working.  I plan to be more physically active and improve my health.  Sitting behind a desk for all those years has just about killed me.  I used to work on a stock car racing team, but I have realized that I am just to old and out of shape to continue.  But I continue to enjoy watching NASCAR Racing (and just about any other series of auto/motorcycle racing) on the television.  I’ve found that if I go to a race and sit in the stands, I feel out of place by not being in the pits.
